Cultural Ethnos of Transcarpathia

The project became a deep study of the unique mosaic of cultures that have coexisted in Zakarpattia for centuries. Hungarians, Slovaks, Romanians, Ukrainians, Rusyns, Roma, Jews and other ethnic groups create an astonishing palette that not only impresses with its diversity but teaches respect and mutual understanding. I wanted to show that in a world changing at incredible speed some things remain constant: the warmth of people, their traditions and their pride.

The project began in the autumn of 2022 at the Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life. I chose my sitters by their ethnographic origin. In the old houses of a Transcarpathian village, among unique interiors of everyday life, dressed in folk costume, they tell the complicated history of the region’s people.

Thanks to numerous world awards in the art of photography — gold and silver medals — the project «Cultural Ethnos of Transcarpathia» achieved global success not only in the professional sphere but also gained resonance with a wide audience. The photographs could be seen on the pages of Fashion TV magazines, where they looked perfectly at home among the trendsetters of the fashion world.

For me personally, the project «Cultural Ethnos of Transcarpathia» is a tribute and an honour to my ancestors of the Transcarpathian land.
